FAQ
Q: What types of shocks does Shock Pros work on?
A: We service just about any rebuildable shock, ranging from off road racing shocks on 4-wheel vehicles to UTV, dirt bike, quad and sportbike shocks.
Q: What services does Shock Pros offer?
A: Shock Pros offers shock rebuilding, revalving, and ssuspension tuning for your vehicle out in the field.
Q: What does rebuilding a shock mean?
A: When we rebuild a shock, we disassemble the shock, draine used oil, remove the seals and wear bands, inspect all components for wear and damage and proper tolerances, then we install new seals, wear bands, replace worn parts, add new oil, and re-assemble the shock.
Q: What does revalving a shock mean?
A: Revalving a shock is adjusting the resistance or damping control of a shock. A shock controls the movements of a vehicle by slowing down the movements of your suspension as they react to changing terrain. We adjust to your vehicle's needs as every vehicle is different. To put it in very simple terms, some vehicles require a stiffer shock and some a softer shock.
Q: How often should I send my shocks in for service?
A: Ideally, shocks should be inspected prior to every race on race vehicles. If you are on a budget, inspect them every other race or between 400-500 miles. For pre-run or recreational vehicles, you can service your shocks once a season.
Q: How do I know when a shock needs to be serviced?
A: When a shock fails, or is "blown", you will sometimes see oil leaking. This is an easy way of telling that it needs servicing. Sometimes it's not as easy to tell just by looking at the shock and you will have to rely on different indications. When a shock begins to fail, it will no longer control your suspensions movements and you will feel excessive occilation, or "bouncing", harsh bottom outs, and changes in your vehicle's momevents that no longer make the vehicle feel controlled.
Q: What is the average turn around time for rebuilding shocks? revalving shocks?
A: Our average turn around time is between 3-4 days. Even though we stock many of the seal kits and parts for the shocks available on the market today, some less common brands of shocks may require ordering parts that may take a few extra days due to parts availability.
